January 27th 2003, Newton County hosting one of the most publicized and highly profiled cases in Georgia’s history. The case of Rev. Malachi York and Kathy Johnson and the 208 alleged child molestation charges launched against them by a disgruntled son, several vindictive women and a power hungry Sheriff.

Both of the defendants have maintained their innocence and the evidence supports their innocence, even to the point where all 5 of the children taken by the Department of Family and Children Services (DFACS) to be investigated for molestation and abuse were returned to their families with no signs that they had been sexually molested in any way by Rev. York or any of the other defendants.

The most disturbing aspect of the prosecution’s whole case is how the steps taken by the District Attorney Fred Bright and the other prosecutors are IDENTICAL to that of a case that took place in 1983 in Manhattan Beach, California called the "McMartin Trials". This was a trial about a family that owned and operated a preschool in Manhattan Beach and was alleged to have sexually molested over 200 children from ages 2 to 14 years of age. They ended up with exactly 208 counts against them but after 6 years of trial and 16 million dollars paid by the state they all were vindicated of all charges in the end.

In 1995 there was an HBO movie entitled "Indictment"ISBN 0-78310-853-2 that was a re-enactment of this actual trial. Citizens of Newton County need to be made aware that this Copy-Cat Prosecution has similarities that are so close and so identical to the McMartin Trials that it is terrifying knowing that human lives are at stake. However we encourage you to see it for yourself!

Obvious Targeted Profile

This is obviously a means of targeting and profiling to have these excessive charges (that didn’t even have specific dates that the alleged molestation occurred) from non-credible witnesses launched against this honorable man, his wife and three ladies. There were no parents present during the questioning of the children and pertinent files that weren’t passed over to the defense in regards to some of the charges and information on the so-called witnesses.

Make note that the defense is being systematically blocked from seeing the actual files that the charges were grafted from. When you see the movie "Indictment" (ISBN 0-78310-853-2), you will see that these are some of the same mistakes that the prosecutors made in the McMartin case and thus the results should be the same; all defendants should be exonerated from all charges!!!!

Many of the witnesses for the state have backed down once they saw these charges were nothing to play with and that an innocent man’s life is at stake. They also know if anything ever happened to Rev. York as a result of the stress and anguish from these false charges that it will be something they would have to deal with for the rest of their lives!

It is amazing to think that the prosecution feels that they are going to get away with this Copy-Cat Prosecution, which is an insult to the judicial system and insult to the citizens of Georgia. The defendants’ lives will never be the same; they have already been defamed, humiliated and made a pariah all for fame and publicity You truly have to see it to believe it but the fact is they were ALL FOUND INNOCENT!
